Cruisin in Style

Two months ago, my wife and I celebrated her birthday with a cruise. (No, you don't get to know which birthday!)

It was my first time on a cruise ship, so I was in awe.

As we left port, we got the wonderful view of the sun setting over Fort Lauderdale.

Half Moon Cay

The next day was spent at Half Moon Cay, Holland America's private island. This was why I left the freezing snow and headed south.

Aruba

Our next port of call was Aruba. The pilot boat met us at sea to help steer us into port.

Awaiting us onshore was our Town and Country tour bus with Sonny - our tour guide. Sonny showed us around the island, with its rugged natural beauty.

Curaçao

The island of Curaçao is all about color. Everywhere you look, bold vibrant colors.

Onboard Life

Life on a cruise vessel is one of indulgence. Service unparalleled and no lack of something to do.

The awesome frozen winter

This past week, Louisville (and surrounding areas) were covered with ice. Inconvenient, annoying, dangerous... and beautiful.

I didn't really think about it until we were on our way to Leavenworth, IN for a weekend away and started realizing how amazing the world around me really was.

Behind our cottage was a group of horses, huddled up for warmth. Their body heat kept the snow melted.

I couldn't resist. I had to go down for a closer look and found a friend.

More pictures from the weekend to be found here.
